Heather Hovinen, M.A.(she/her) ~ Advanced Practicum Trainee
I was drawn to the mental health field after my own personal experiences with mental health. Through my educational journey, I have explored the impact of society and unique life experiences on individuals’ well-being. I have previously worked with the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) as the Support Group Coordinator, Helpline volunteer, and Support Group Leader.
I am currently on my journey to earn my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Adler University, where I have earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology (M.A). I have completed clinical training in an inpatient behavioral health hospital and a therapeutic school in which I supported a diverse population of adolescents and adults. I have supported individuals through traumatic experiences, work-related stressors, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, difficulty with socialization, depression, autism, challenging family dynamics, and life transitions.
I approach therapy relationally and holistically. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral approaches with Client-Centered and Individual Therapy. I provide clients with a safe space to develop insight and a therapeutic experience that works with their values and diverse backgrounds. I am here to support your journey for healing, well-being, and inner peace.
