C.C. Mathieu M.S., M.A. (she/her/hers) ~ Advanced Doctoral Extern

I pursued the field of psychology following my own personal experiences with mental health. I understand just how challenging it can be to struggle with your mental health, and I strongly empathize with how these struggles can impact your everyday life. As a therapist, my goal is to meet you where you are, using a nonjudgmental, strengths-based approach. I believe this is the type of atmosphere that encourages positive growth and helps you become the best version of yourself.

I was raised and lived in Des Moines, Iowa. Prior to beginning my graduate degree in clinical psychology, I worked full-time in the nonprofit sector of mental health, which gave me a deep understanding of the factors that allow families and communities to thrive. Currently, I am in my fourth year of the Doctoral Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) program at Adler University. I have received clinical training and experience in a health department and elementary school, working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds and helping them through a variety of struggles. Many of the individuals I have worked with have endured trauma, resulting in difficulty with their mental health.

In my practice, I do not limit myself to one method of therapy, because I believe every person has their own unique personality and goals to be achieved. There are many methods I love (Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment, Psychoanalytic therapy), though my approach tends to consist of humanistic roots. My ultimate goal is to develop a partnership with you in therapy, where you can grow to exist comfortably as your most authentic self. I believe this is the truest form of happiness.
