Amanda Bressler, M.A. (she/her/hers) ~ Doctoral Therapy Extern
Whether pursuing therapy excites you, scares you, or anywhere in between, I believe it is a commendable act of self-care. My personal experience as a therapy client has helped me to deepen my sense of identity and show up in my life as my authentic self. As a therapist, I aim to create a non-judgmental space by fully accepting my clients for who they are, as they are, in each moment—past, present, and future.
Prior to my graduate training, I worked in preventative healthcare (HIV prevention, primary care engagement) and standardized test preparation for high schoolers. I am currently working towards my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at The Chicago School. My previous clinical training has been in an outpatient setting with individuals across the lifespan seeking psychological evaluation.
My style of therapy is rooted largely in existential and relational approaches, though I pull from other theories to best meet the needs of each individual. I see my role as helping you gain clarity on who you are and what you want. With every decision, there is something to be gained and something to be lost. Picking ‘Option A’ over ‘Option B,’ or vice versa, is not inherently good, bad, better, or worse. Rather, what matters is the meaning it holds for you and is what I hope to help you discover. I believe that personal growth comes from the freedom to deeply know oneself, and my aim is to help you get there.
